As we approach the annual Day of Giving in Wichita Falls, Texoma Gives, The Alliance is highlighting local artists who have been instrumental in transforming communities in and around Wichita Falls through arts and creativity.
Selena Mize started with the Alliance in 2019 as a participant in the Lincoln Center Teaching Artist Learning Lab. The next year, The Alliance handed Selena Mize a very big task – her first mural commission. Imaginative Minds, part of the Eastside Mural Project, covered an entire gas station with brilliant colors.
Selena has collaborated with The Alliance to install murals across Texoma. A vibrant mural celebrating Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist Roy Orbison in his birthplace of Vernon, TX sparked a wave of public art in the community. Today, Selena is working across the region bringing her talents to new communities.
As part of the inaugural Artist Development Program, Selena is developing the skills she needs to make her work visible to new audiences.
Selena is one of the thousands of talented creatives who live and work in the Wichita Falls area. Help The Alliance continue supporting the creative sector – and artists like Selena – by donating through Texoma Gives.
