As we approach the annual Day of Giving in Wichita Falls, Texoma Gives, The Alliance is highlighting local artists who have been instrumental in transforming communities in and around Wichita Falls through arts and creativity.

Ramona Stegal is a visual artist and youth arts educator with a penchant for giving old things new life. She encourages others to rediscover, reinvigorate and repurpose – to recycle their perceptions of the ordinary.

After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography and ceramics from MSU Texas, Ramona taught art and art history in Dallas Public Schools for over a decade. As a Teaching Artist with the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture, Ramona has honed her practice and skills with intensive workshops from Lincoln Center Education, Artist INC, and is participating in the 2021 Artist Development Program.

Her work with children focuses on the “power of play” and combines storytelling, art history, and art-making. Ramona has facilitated classes for numerous community organizations including the Wichita Falls Public Library and the Parks and Recreation Department.

Ramona is one of the thousands of talented creatives who live and work in the Wichita Falls area. Help The Alliance continue supporting the creative sector – and artists like Ramona – by donating through Texoma Gives.
