River Bend Nature Center Summer Camps
Camps are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12 pm. Camp is for ages 4-11, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm, $100 RBNC Members and $110 for Non-Members. All camps involve exploration of the trail and exhibits. Nature Rangers! June 5th – June 9th
Put on your hiking shoes, grab your walking stick, and your adventuring hat to become a part of the River Bend Nature Rangers! Campers will enjoy a variety of exciting activities, including making animal tracks, examining animal pelts and skulls, getting up close and personal with rescued critters during an RBNC Animal Show, exploring the pond, searching for evidence of creatures on the trail, and much more!
Roar for Dinosaurs! July 10th – July 14th
Get ready to roar with the dinosaurs! Campers will have the opportunity to dig for dinosaur bones and fossils, build their very own dinosaurs, explore the different types of dinosaurs that once roamed the state of Texas, and even create their own fossils and dinosaur footprints. Join in the fun and discover the wonders of the prehistoric world!
Crazy ‘Bout Critters! July 24th – July 28th
Get ready to embark on an exciting journey through the animal kingdom! Campers will go on a track hunt, explore the critters in our pond, meet local animals, dissect owl pellets, and even create their very own animal tracks. Join us for an adventure that will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the wonders of the animal world!

Have your kids always wanted to learn to watercolor?
In this class we will focus on learning the basics. This workshop will be a combination of step-by-step instructions and experimentation. It is intended for the beginner with no experience.
The goal of the class is to build a foundation of skills.
Your kids will leave with everything they need to practice their new skills at home. The class fee includes the following supplies that you get to keep:

Camp Imagination at the Wichita Theatre
Camp Imagination’s, the summer camp provided by Encore Theatre 4 Kidz, goal is to introduce each child to the basics of live theatre or to provide advance skills for those who’ve already been involved in past productions. Each day will start with an assembly featuring a guest speaker to cover different topics of interest or an introduction of the topic of learning for the day followed by breakout sessions in vocal, acting, or dance with instructors and their student mentors. Camp is beneficial to the new actor as well as the experienced as they learn from some of the best stage veterans and instructors in Texoma. Get ready for a great and unique summer experience for your kids!

In this class we will create art project based on Disney movies and characters. The following movies will be used as inspiration:

Altered Books Journaling – Kemp Center for the Arts

Campers will focus on multiple types of art journaling, working with blank books and altering existing books. Students will learn about the history and art of recording their thoughts, feelings and observations of the world around them in a way unique to them. All supplies provided. Students are strongly encouraged to bring meaningful items from home that can be incorporated into their art journals: photos, keepsakes, stickers, quotes, poems, and images of artwork.

Procreate Digital Art – Kemp Center for the Arts

Learn the world’s most popular premier digital art software! Students will learn how to use Procreate, rapidly becoming an industry standard for digital artists across the world. This camp is suitable for beginning and intermediate Procreate users. Students will learn about digital brushes, color mixing, image sizing, creating and saving files, applying layers and masks, and more in-depth features of the app.
Students must have the following for class:

Printmaking without a Press – Kemp Center for the Arts
Ages: 9 – 17

Printmaking traditionally is done using a printing press… but there are many ways to create prints without that expensive equipment! Students will learn multiple forms of printing that can be done without a press, using simple supplies. They’ll have a variety of completed artworks at the end of camp. All supplies are provided.

Anime Beginner – Kemp Center for the Arts
Ages: 9 – 17

Learn character design, facial expressions, and how to draw the body proportions of anime characters. There will also be a dedicated section of the lesson for giving kid-friendly anime recommendations. Summer Theatre Academy at Backdoor Theatre
The Summer Theatre Academy at Backdoor Theatre promises two weeks of fun and learning! Your child will gain valuable theatre skills, confidence, self-esteem, and a love of creativity through theatre games, acting, and performance.
In this fun and fast-paced 2-week theatre academy, and under the direction and guidance of Lauren Loskot & Corey Rauscher, Dexter’s Theatre Teachers, students will produce the play “Hercules” complete with costumes, lights, and stage makeup!
They will also have paid opportunities for four High School Counselors!
