Ditch the Screens! The Alliance is once again encouraging young children and teens to set their inner artists free at a variety of summer art camps happening in Wichita Falls. Summer camps can include everything from animals, nature, flying things, animation, comics, and even the world of dreams and fantasies.


VC Mixed Media Camp: An Art Experience: REGISTER HERE

Hosted by CrashWorks STEAM studio & Makerspace and Vernon College Continuing Education Wichita Falls.

ABOUT: Join us as we dive into the many facets of art! From paint pours and pinch pots to an exploration in mixing multiple textiles, this camp is sure to be an art experience your kids* will love!*Ages 6-10This camp is a collaborative event with our friends at Vernon College! Your child will receive a t-shirt, snack and bottle of water included with their camp ticket!

The Wichita Falls Parks and Recreation Department is all set and ready for Summer Day Camp 2022. The 2 week-long sessions are available at 2 different locations for kids ages 6-12. The first session gets underway Monday, June 6, 2022. Registration is underway for Sessions 1 and 2 right now. Just log onto https://apm.activecommunities.com/cityofwichitafalls/Home and register your kids for two fun weeks full of field trips, games, and activities. The camps take place at Scotland Park Elementary and Jefferson Elementary. Breakfast and Lunch will be served daily. The cost of the camp is $100 a session per child. That’s only $10 a day. Here is what you need to know: Session 1: June 6-June 17 Session 2: June 20- July 1 Session 3: July 4-July 15 Session 4: July 18-July 29 The registration deadline for each session is Friday before the session starts. Summer Strings Camp 2022: REGISTER HERE

The Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra welcomes all beginner and intermediate strings students and looks forward to serving everyone with fun and challenging music education opportunities.

Camp will be held at The Forum in Wichita Falls July 25-29. There will be a camp concert on Friday.

Please complete application and return with camp fee by July 1, 2022. After this date, there will be a $10.00 late fee and we cannot guarantee the correct size t-shirt.

Enrollment is $90 if paid by July 1 and $100 after July 1. All current YSO students will receive a 10% discount. You may mail a check payable to Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra or pay by Venmo @WFYSO. TUITION PAYMENT: To ensure placement in the assigned level, a non-refundable registration fee of $10.00 must be received by June 1, 2022.  Full tuition must be paid the first day of classes.

KEMP CENTER FOR THE ARTS: REGISTER HERE

Camp: ArtZeum Kids Art I

  • Ages: 5 – 9
  • Dates: Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17
  • Time: 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
  • Cost: $80

ArtZeum is The Kemp Center’s annual interactive children’s art exhibit and this year’s theme is HerStory: Seven Famous Women Artists. Campers will use a variety of media to explore and learn about the work of these gifted artists. This camp is for our youngest campers, giving them an opportunity to learn about visual arts of many kinds.

Camp: ArtZeum Creativity

  • Ages: 7 – 12
  • Dates: Monday, June 20 through Friday, June 24
  • Time: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
  • Cost: $110

This camp is for our elementary aged campers interested in many forms of art, including performance.  For our visual arts only camp please see our ArtZeum Kids Art I and II camps (two separate sessions). Campers should be prepared to work with visual art, music and participate in a dramatic performance.  The final performance is open to family and friends and will happen the last day of camp.  Campers should plan to attend ALL camp sessions and the final performance.  This is to ensure that all the parts in the play are filled on performance day. Campers must be able to read at a Grade 1 level.

Camp: Watercolor

  • Ages: 9 – 13
  • Dates: Monday, June 27 – Friday, July 1
  • Time: 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
  • $80

Campers will learn the basics of creating with watercolor.  They’ll also have a chance to explore multiple types of watercolor media (including water pencils and crayons, wet and dry paint, and different types of papers).  Watercolor is one of the most accessible and convenient forms of painting, making it the go-to media for traveling artists around the world.

Camp: Kawaii Cute

  • Ages: 9 – 13
  • Dates: Wednesday, July 6 – Friday, July 8
  • Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Cost: $60

Kawaii is the hyper-cute anime style hugely popular in Japan and around the world (think Hello Kitty and Pokemon).  Campers will learn how to draw in the kawaii style and create a bunch of fun kawaii cute projects!

Camp: Anime Basics

  • Ages: 10 – 18
  • Dates: Monday, July 11 – Friday, July 14
  • Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Cost: $95

Learn the basics about the Japanese art form of anime.  Students will learn to draw in the anime style, including basic anatomy; sketching, coloring and inking; and creating dramatic facial expressions.  Students will also learn about the history of anime and how it fits into the broader Japanese culture, including sampling many Japanese treats!  (Please note the allergen waiver below: Japanese snack food frequently contains common allergens like sesame, shellfish and seaweed.)

Camp: Anime Advanced

  • Ages: 12 – 18
  • Dates: Monday, July 11 – Friday, July 15
  • Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Cost: $95

Our afternoon anime camp is for more advanced students who already have a basic foundation in sketching and drawing in the anime style.  Students will continue to work on their drawing skills, (including anatomy, sketching, coloring and inking) while learning how to develop original characters and being to plan out storylines. Students will also learn about the history of anime and how it fits into the broader Japanese culture, including sampling many Japanese treats!  (Please note the allergen waiver below: Japanese snack food frequently contains common allergens like sesame, shellfish and seaweed.)

Camp: Drama

  • Ages: 7 – 14
  • Dates: Monday, July 18 – Friday, July 29 (No weekends)
  • Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Cost: $135

Lights, Camera, Action!! Campers will learn all aspects of Theatre Arts from audition to production. There will be a performance for family on the last day of camp. Campers must be able to attend each day for both weeks, including the final performance on Friday, July 29.  This ensures no parts are left open at the final performance.Campers must be able to read at a Grade 2 level and follow directions. Registration for camp closes a full week before camp starts.  They gives the teachers time to be sure all campers have a part in the performance.

Learn the world’s most popular premier digital art software!  Students will learn how to use Procreate, rapidly becoming the industry standard for digital artists across the world.

River Bend Nature Center Summer Camps – REGISTER HERE

Join in on all the cool activities and make new friends as you explore nature and science at Camp River Bend! Camps are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12 pm. RAWR for Dinosaurs! June 13th – June 17th

Ready, set, roar for dinosaurs! Campers will dig for dinosaur bones and fossils, build a dinosaur, discover dinosaurs that lived in Texas and create a fossil and dinosaur footprint, and more!

Wild About Wildlife! June 27th-July 1st

Prepare to explore the world of animals! Campers will go on a track hunt, see us feed our live exhibits, explore the critters in our pond, meet local animals, construct an insect habitat and a birdhouse, make animal tracks, and more fun activities!

Science Detectives! July 11th – July 15th

Roll up your sleeves, dust off your science goggles, and prepare to have some fun! Campers will create different concoctions of slime, make their own science tool kits, build terrariums, create vehicles, use digital scopes to investigate the microscopic world of nature, create chemical reactions using kitchen chemistry, and so much more!

AstroKids! July 25th – July 29th

All systems ready, 3,2,1 we have lift off! Campers will explore the planets, the universe, and the birth of a star; create a galaxy and design a spaceship and so much more. Off you go to infinity and beyond!
