
Spring Break 2023 is right around the corner, and although some families will be traveling for vacation, many are staying in town and searching for something for their kiddos during the workday. Registration is open at several Spring Break camps hosted by artists, nonprofits, the public library, and studios.

Art Detective Spring Break Camp for Kids
In this class, artist Ginger Boller will travel back in time and learn about famous American art. Class time will start with examining a famous work of art. Students will be encouraged to take notes or make drawings during the look-and-learn stage of the class. Next, kids will move on to the hands-on portion of the class where students can try out some of the techniques used by famous artists through the ages.
Optional homework will be given. Those who do the homework can return next week and show the class what they worked on. All supplies are provided for this class. The class is geared for ages 8-13. Younger or older students are admitted at the teacher’s discretion.
Minimum four students. Maximum ten students.

Young Authors Workshop – City of Wichita Falls Public Library
MONDAY, MARCH 13, 2023 AT 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Children aged 6-11 are invited to join Library staff for a young author’s workshop. They’ll learn how to make a picture book by creating their own!
Free • All Supplies Provided.
Books can be taken home to work on, and finished books can be submitted to the library for consideration to be added to our collection!!

Collage & Found Objects Spring Break Mini Camp – Kemp Center for the Arts
Ages: 9 – 18
Days: March 13 – 15 (Monday – Wednesday)
Time: 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Looking for something to do over spring break? Our Collage & Found Objects Mini Camp is perfect for Maker kids. Explore a variety of small art projects using found objects and collages.

Teen Anime Squad – City of Wichita Falls Public Library
This squad is open for teens ages 12-18 for anime, manga, and snacks. Drop-ins welcome!

Nature Tots: Spring Showers – River Bend Nature Center
Join River Bend Nature Center on Saturday, Mar. 11th, from 10:30 am- 11:30 am for a Nature Tots program, Spring Showers!
- Splash into water stories!
- Dance with the water cycle!
- Explore sinking and floating!
- Plant a flower!
This program is for ages 2-6 and is included with general admission. Nature Tots begins at 10:30 am, and it is not a come-and-go program.
General admission: $6, Children/Seniors/Military/Students: $5, and Children 1 and Under and RBNC members are free.

Career Exploration Class for Teens (Spring Break)
- Day 1: Artist Ginger Boller will do an interest/ values inventory and discuss designing a life you will love.
- Day 2: Boller will review the results of a personality assessment (the assessment will be done for homework) and discuss how your personalities affect your choices and your fulfillment.
- Day 3: Boller will review the results of a career interest assessment (the assessment will be done for homework).
- Day 4: a time to put it together and discuss the next steps.
There will be a private Facebook group dedicated to the career class. Students are welcome to post questions. Homework assignments (links to the assessments) will be posted there.
No grades will be given. There will be homework assignments. If the students don’t do them, the class discussions will not be very meaningful. The more work they put in, the more benefit they will get out of the class.
The class will be limited to 10 students.

STEAM Spring Break Camp 2023 – River Bend Nature Center
Spring Break Camp is back again this year at River Bend Nature Center, March 13th through the 17th, from 8:30 AM- 12:00 PM! Join in on all the excellent hands-on activities and make new friends!
Outdoor adventures await this year’s campers! Each day campers will explore a different, fun, and exciting theme. STEAM Camp combines components of science, technology, engineering, art, and math in a meaningful, hands-on, and engaging way. Campers will create their own handmade journals, grab their art bag and supplies, and head out on the trail to paint, sculpt, construct, and draw the mysteries of the natural world. They will use these items to explore several unique ecosystems, such as the bottomland forest and Children’s Garden pond. Innovation and creativity will be at the heart of every activity.
Registration fills up fast, so hurry and sign up today! The cost is $80 per child and $70 for RBNC members. Registration will close when camp is full or by 6 PM Wednesday, March 8th.

Kawaii Camp Spring Break Kid’s Camp
A spring break camp for kids: Monday- Friday, March 13-17, from 2 pm to 3 pm. Artist Ginger Boller hosts it.
Kawaii is the culture of cuteness in Japan. In this fun kids’ class, we will learn to draw Kawaii characters, use Japanese art materials and try Japanese snack foods.
All supplies are provided for this class.
The class is geared for ages 8-13. Younger or older students are admitted at the teacher’s discretion.

Spring Break S.T.E.A.M Camp – CrashWorks STEAM studio & Makerspace
WHO: Students ages 6-10, 11+
(Campers will be split into two separate camps by age.)
WHEN: March 13, 14, 15, 16, 17; 9a-12p daily
ATTENDANCE: Drop-off; kids only
PRICE: $100/child; $85 for each additional child
ABOUT: Join CrashWORKS for five fun-filled days of hands-on creativity! Staff will engineer and design weapons and armor for an epic battle, learn about lasers and fiber optics in the science lab, create miniature versions of their favorite things in the maker space, compete in a LEGO building challenge, and more!
**Need care after camp? Our Afternoon STEAM Program will run from 12-5p each day after camp. Whether we need one day or five, they have you covered!

Fashion Design Camp Spring Break Kid’s Camp
- A spring break camp for kids: Monday- Friday, March 13-17, from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
- $45 Early Bird price through March 1, 2023.
- $50 Regular price: March 2-12, 2023. Registration will close on March 12 or when the class fills.
Each day, artist Ginger Boller will go over a new technique as a class, and then there will be time to experiment and apply the skill taught. Friday’s class will be an open house/ art show for parents and loved ones to see our work.
The techniques that will be covered are:
- Mood board.
- Color, fabric, and drawing of the human form.
- Creating mock-ups with fabric.
Each student will get a small plastic (Close to Barbie size) dress form. These will be used for mock-ups. 9th Street Studios will use fabric, but there will be no sewing. All supplies will be provided.
The activities are geared for ages 8-15, but students outside that age group are welcome with the instructor’s approval.
Minimum four students. Maximum ten students.
