The 2018 exhibition The Souls of Black Folk featured the traditions of African American folk art. The collection, from Dallas’ African American Museum at Fair Park, was hosted by the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU Texas from February-April 2018. This exhibit was made possible by a long-standing partnership between the African-American Museum and the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture.
The African American Museum’s Folk Art Collection is one of the finest of its kind in the nation and includes work by artists Clementine Hunter, Bessie Harvey, Johnny Banks, George White, and more.
Wichita Falls Mayor Stephen Santellana presented a proclamation at the opening reception.
