9th Street Studios is thrilled to announce the relocation of the iconic Neon City public art installation to Wichita Falls, Texas. Originally created as part of a series of temporary installations in Austin’s Waterloo Greenway, Neon City has found a new permanent residence.
Neon City is a stunning testament to the power of art to transform and revitalize public spaces. Through its vibrant “neon lights” and imaginative design, the installation represents growth and potential opportunities.
This ambitious project would not have been possible without the support and collaboration of numerous community partners. 9th Street Studios teamed up with The Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Austin Art in Public Places, MetalWorks Austin, Wichita Falls Career Education Center Welding Program, City of Wichita Falls Parks Department, White Realty, Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture, and Wichita Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“The relocation of Neon City to Wichita Falls is a testament to the strong bond between communities and the power of collaboration,” said Becky Raeke, Co-Owner of 9th Street Studios. “We are grateful for the support of our community partners who have made this transformational art installation a reality.”
Neon City’s new home in Wichita Falls showcases the city’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and culturally rich environment for its residents and visitors. The installation, completed in June 2023, is expected to become a beloved landmark and a source of pride for the community.
Neon City can be viewed at the North end of Lamar, behind MPEC in Wichita Falls. The installation promises to captivate visitors of all ages, inviting them to immerse themselves in the radiant glow and awe-inspiring atmosphere of this urban masterpiece.
