A mural dedication ceremony will be held in May in downtown Burkburnett. The artwork was commissioned as part of ongoing efforts to revitalize the downtown area.

The Burkburnett Chamber of Commerce partnered with Burkburnett ISD and the Wichita Falls Alliance of Arts & Culture (WFAAC) to design and install the mural.

The artwork was designed by Burkburnett High School student Caden Jodzco. “It’s nice to have a broad spectrum of neon colors that stand out, representing an idea for Burkburnett that there is much hope and creativity,” Caden says of the mural.

WFAAC Art in Public Places Project Manager Ferdine LeBlanc transformed Caden’s design into a large-scale paint-by-number project. Members of the community helped paint the mural at the 2023 Friendship Festival.

The dedication ceremony for the mural will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. as part of the “Bringing Back Boomtown” Art Walk in downtown Burkburnett.

The mural was funded in part by the Texas Commission on the Arts. ACE Hardware generously donated paint and supplies for the project.
