WICHITA FALLS – We are less than 20 days away from the 2022 Texoma Gives campaign and The Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture has big fundraising plans this year. The board’s goal is to raise $13,000 toward the completion of The Legends Project: the commissioning of a life-sized bronze sculpture of the late Charlye O. Farris.
Farris, a Wichita Falls native, holds the distinction of being the first African American woman licensed to practice law in Texas and the first African American attorney, male or female, in Wichita County. The Alliance is paying tribute to her life and legacy by commissioning a life-sized bronze sculpture to be installed on the lawn of the Wichita County Courthouse.
