June 4 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm CDT
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Friday and Saturday, repeating until July 23, 2021
The Museum of North Texas History is excited to announce the opening of the exhibit Grow Wichita Falls. The exhibit will open Friday, June 4 and will be on display until Friday, July 23.
This exhibit is a partnership between the Museum of North Texas History and The Kell House Museum.
Executive Director, Madeleine Calcote says, “This exhibit highlights the ingenuity farmers and gardeners who have worked the North Texas land for years to yield beautiful and delicious products.”
Willie May Kell, the last Kell family member who resided in the Kell House was an avid gardener and authority on exotic plants, serving as an inspiration to many who still visit the grounds for their beauty.
“It is exciting and an honor to be able to explore Willie May’s contribution to local flora, as well as sharing the history of gardening,” says Nadine McKown, Kell House Museum Site Director.
The exhibit will feature artifacts from both museums, children’s art from the community, and hands-on activities for all visitors.
