August 6, 2024 – Wichita Falls City Councilors approved $60,000 for a beautification initiative at Bridwell Park. The project, a partnership between the City’s Parks Department and the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture (The Alliance), will revitalize one of the city’s key recreational areas by installing vibrant murals. The highlight of the project will be a mural on the soon-to-be-installed futsal court.

Terry Points, Parks Superintendent, said, “We are excited to see how these murals brighten up Bridwell Park. Projects like this show our commitment to making our parks beautiful places for everyone to enjoy.”

Ann Arnold-Ogden, Executive Director of The Alliance, added, “We are proud to once again partner with the City of Wichita Falls to activate a public space in our city. Art has the power to transform communities, and we look forward to working with local artists to bring these murals to life.”

The murals will be funded through the Community Development Block Grant-Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) program. A call for artists for the project will be announced later this year. The Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture will oversee the artist selection and mural installation.
