Stephen Taylor has been in Wichita Falls a relatively short\ time, but has managed to make substantial marks on the local art scene. His early love of Comic illustrations and music influenced his gritty artistic style. In Dallas he learned to how to create foam sculptures, which led to him owning and operating his own commercial art studio. Prior to his arrival in Wichita Falls, he used his creativity and ambition to renovate and reopen the Plaza Theatre in Vernon Texas. In 2015, a chance meeting with the owners of the Maer Heydrick #2 building provided the opportunity for him to conceptualize, design and construct what is now known as 9th Street Studios in Downtown Wichita Falls. In addition to creating an environment for other artists to practice their disciplines, he has supported the art community by displaying his sculpting and painting talents for the 2017 Los Muertos Festival, 2017 City of Lights Parade, and multiple backdoor theatre productions in 2018.
He is currently producing his own work and acting as Curator and Manager of 9th Street Studios.
