AJ Smith is a Wichita Falls, Texas–based artist and photographer whose work is inspired by oilfield culture, Cherokee heritage, wind turbines, pump jacks, and the West Texas landscape. Raised in a four-generation oilfield family, she uses expressive color and texture to capture history within industrial and rural landscapes. AJ has earned many publications over the years, earned a district medal at VASE, and was later awarded the Presidential Purchase at Midwestern State University in 2022. Recently, she has been featured in Lucky Locals Art Cards as a founding artist with five pieces in the collection series, while also pursuing lifestyle photography in her free time.
